I was surprised to read all the negative reviews of Dr. Hicks. I have had two prenatal visits with her, and I found her very pleasant, cheerful, and disarming. In fact, I raved about my first visit to family and friends because I was so happy I happened to be assigned to such a well-mannered and professional doctor. We'll see how the rest of my prenatal visits and labor and delivery go, but I have good expectations. The office staff, on the other hand, do not go out of their way to be friendly.

Just had my annual physical with Dr. Susan Hicks. She is always very pleasant, caring and informative. Kerri, her nurse, is wonderful, too. A very nice office in Grandville, MI.

I really feel sad that others had this experience with Dr. Hicks. I always felt that she knew who I was and listened to my concerns. She did run behind and I did often hear her talking outside to other staff, but never what I felt was negatively. She made me feel safe and she was supportive when I had to have an induction and then subsequent C-section. She even stayed late to be the one to perform it for me. I really do love working with her!
Hudsonville, MI |
I always felt rushed with Dr. Hicks & never felt comfortable enough to ask questions. She never remembered who I was & wouldn't even care to look through my chart to at least pretend to remember me. I heard her complaining multiple times when she was outside my door about her work schedule & other doctors. I delivered a month early due to a life threatening illness, & she didn't even remember me or my illness when she came to treat me in the hospital.
Dr hicks is incredibly rude and insensitive. She treated me so disrespectfully and acted like I was stupid because I had questions and concerns, she would then be evasive and not answer my questions with a straight answer. She always kept me waiting, for over an hour for one appointment. As soon as she left the room I could hear her talking negatively about me to her nurse.

This office has produced nothing but heartache and expense. Without getting too far into details, I've felt bullied and pressured by both Dr Hicks and her nurses into procedures that turned out to be unnecessary. Not only that, but the office staff do not communicate with eachother whatsoever and I repeatedly have to deal with waiting on hold and having them ignore requests. They have repeatedly misbilled my insurance and chosen the wrong medications and even pharmacies.
A horrible doctor who doesn't listen to patients or care about them!
