Dr. Surendra Nevatia has been a member of the Glens Falls Hospital Medical Staff since 1985. A graduate of the Medical College in Indore, India, Dr. Nevatia completed internships in Pediatrics at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and Internal Medicine at St. Claire's Hospital in Manhattan. He completed his Internal Medical residency at Jamaica Hospital in New York City and a Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in the subspecialties Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Nevatia has served as the Medical Director of the Respiratory Therapy Department since he joined Glens Falls Hospital in 1985. In the same year, he founded his private Pulmonary practice which later became Adirondack Pulmonary Medicine. In this role, he provides medical direction to the clinical programs of respiratory care, oversees clinical policies and procedures, and contributes to the development of the Respiratory Therapy Department staff. In 1999, Dr. Nevatia assumed additional responsibilities as Founder & Medical Director of the GFH Sleep Center, a department of Glens Falls Hospital. GFH Sleep Center was accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine in July 2016. Dr. Nevatia has been active in the Medical Staff, serving as Chief of Division of Internal Medicine and member of the Medical Executive and Critical Care Committees from 1997 to present. He received the Harry M. "Mac" DePan Physician Award of Excellence in 2007, an honor given to one doctor annually by the Glens Fall Hospital.
