He completed his undergraduate studies at New York Institute of Technology in 3 years, earning a BS in Life Science. For medical school, he attended NYCOM on Long Island in New York. He completed his orthopedic residency at Western University/Riverside County Regional Medical Center and served as Chief Resident for his last 2 years. He pursued additional training in advanced shoulder and knee reconstruction as a sports medicine fellow in Orlando, Florida under the direction of Tom Winters MD. He has authored several articles and has participated in orthopedic research. Dr. Shapiro completed his training in 2003 and is board certified. He has lived and worked in Southern California and later the Austin Texas area. In 2018, he relocated to beautiful Florida with his family and joined Connolly Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. He treats a wide variety of orthopedic problems in patients of all ages. He performs advanced arthroscopic procedures, fracture care, arthritis care, rotator cuff repairs, joint replacements, sprain/strain injuries, sports/athletic injuries, and overuse syndromes. In addition, he performs minimally invasive, muscle sparing, direct anterior total hip replacements. He believes in compassionate care and offers surgical and non-surgical options. In addition to family life, Dr. Shapiro is actively involved with many professional associations and performs community volunteer work. He's passionate about leading a healthy lifestyle and is an avid conservationist and sportsman."
