Dr. Werlin was the first pediatric gastroenterologist in eastern Wisconsin. He is a board certified pediatric gastroenterologist. He is recognized as an authority on disorders of the pancreas including acute and chronic pancreatitis. He is a founding member of INSPPIRE (International Study Group of Pediatric Pancreatitis In Search of a Cure) which is funded by the National Institutes of health. He has been a member of the scientific board of the Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome Foundation. He has published more than 120 papers and more that 55 book chapters in the field of pediatric gastroenterology. Dr. Werlin s other clinical and research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of children with inflammatory bowel diseases and the treatment of child-resistant Clostridium difficile infections. Dr. Werlin believes in evidence based medicine. He is a strong advocate for patients and families, and works with the child's pediatrician and parents to provide the best and most informed care possible.
