Dr. Steven Liu was born in the suburbs of Chicago and was raised in northern Florida and the Washington Metropolitan area. He graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. He earned his Doctorate in Medicine degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed his residency in Pediatrics at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He has had numerous research papers and case reports published in various medical journals.
Dr. Liu joined GI Care for Kids in 2007. He is board certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. He is also a member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). His medical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, chronic granulomatous disease-associated gastrointestinal disease, and endoscopy. Dr. Liu's hobbies include violin (he has played with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, performed at Carnegie Hall, and performed in numerous orchestral tours in Russia, Korea, and Portugal), volleyball, and spending time with his wife and two children.
