Care Philosophy

Living by the philosophy that if you are not improving, then you are falling behind, I have striven to bring the most advanced endoscopic techniques to my community, doing what's best for the patient, even if it means taking the extra time and effort. I don't back off from a difficult patient because I'm worried about complications or litigation. Too many doctors shy away and play defensive medicine. Someone has carry the ball. That is why I am performing advanced procedures to remove large and complex lesions, saving patients from surgery. In addition I have extensive experience in management of obesity including weight loss endoscopy such as Gastric bypass revision and gastric balloon placement I know you can't please all of the people all of the time, but i'm going to try my hardest to please most of the people most of the time.Read more

Dr. Gorcey says...

My unique relationship with the advances laparoscopic surgeons at MMC allows me to approach certain conditions in a combined fashion (CELS- combined endoscopic laparoscopic surgery), usually avoiding major organ resection. i was first in NJ to perform BARRX ablation for Barrets esophagus, Transgastric Laparoscopic ERCP in Gastric bypass patients, Laparoscopically assisted colonic polypectomy (that most patients would be referred for surgical resection), Revisional obesity surgery endoscopically, and performed the first POEM for achalasia in the state of NJ. I am one of a handful in the world performing this as well as ESD (endoscopic submucosal dissection) and myotomy for zenkers diverticulum.  Most recently I am the first in the region to have trained in placing intra gastric balloons for weight loss. My reward is to see the dramatic improvement or to save a patient from a surgical resection for a benign lesion.
