Grass Valley, CA |
The reason I did not give a 5 star is because my 92yr old mother opted out having colon surgery, so I could not honestly rate his surgical skills. But the office accommodated a family of 4 along with "mom" allowing us all to hear options, express questions and come to a conclusion that he also supported us in. We all appreciated his clear honest explanation along with his gentile compassion.

His 'halo' is slipping---badly. I went to see him on January 4th with great expectations and I left feeling deflated and in shock. He was overly blunt which did nothing for my confidence in him, the procedure, or myself. His assistant was almost rude. She didn't want to explain anything in lay person's terms. They said they would refer me to a cardiologist in in Auburn for clearance. It's now the 20th of January and not a single call from their office since!!!
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry that you felt your diagnosis and treatment were not conveyed as you'd like. We try to give information as straightforwardly as possible to help you make informed and appropriate decisions. We also desire that our patients make it through the surgical process as safe as possible which is why we spent hours coordinating a cardiology appointment for you. Because of the shortage of cardiologists in our community this can be difficult. Rest assured we did try.

I'm glad that you feel that we are a friendly office and that Dr. Waterbrook listened to your concerns and answered your questions. We know surgery can be very stressful and we try to make your experience as comforting and stress free as possible. We are thankful that you wanted to share your positive experience with others. Thank you again. Blessings and continued good health. Tammy H. Practice Manager

Dr. Waterbrook says...

My training at Loma Linda University, residency in general surgery, and practice in Dayton Ohio for five years have been a great base for practicing in Grass Valley. I became a doctor to treat the whole person, I believe that physical problems are often just one of the stressful things going on in life. I also believe there is a need to treat the underserved in our community, nation and world, and so medical mission trips are also an interest of mine whether here or abroad. In addition, I believe that spirituality should be addressed with each patient. My personal model is Jesus Christ who was the Great Physician. He came to heal people physically, mentally, and spiritually which gave them a correct understanding of God's love for them.

Dr. Waterbrook's Care Philosophy

Approaching each patient with the whole person in mind is always best regardless of the condition. Each patient deserves focused attention every time they see me. This allows me to get the whole picture besides the physical problem that brought them in.

Dr. Waterbrook says...

Patients have the unique ability in modern times to be intimately involved with their care. The resources available to patients makes it possible to be knowledgable about their diagnosis and the possible treatment plans. They have the ultimate say, but with my expertise we will put it all together into an approach that best fits how they wish to be treated with my understanding of the latest medical and surgical technology. Regardless, we always strive to be timely in our communications and address special needs or questions my patients have. We treat all our patients with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Dr. Waterbrook says...

I enjoy general surgery because it allows me to do a wide range of surgical procedures and patient populations. I have trained in minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery on a variety of abdominal surgeries. Other conditions I treat are breast cancer, colon cancer, skin cancer, to name a few. I have had excellent outcomes and am a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
