Dr.Shafizageh did a very lengthy surgery (10 hrs in the OR), for a total spinal fusion. My lung collapsed twice and I stayed in ICU for 10 days. He took great care of me. Although my initial results were fabulous, things change in life sometimes. He is very concerned about my care, and prior to him moving for family matters, he's referring me to a colleague at UAMS to make sure I get great continued care with an another surgeon. Although I'm nervous, he's assured me, this guy is the best, in his field, with this procedure. He called me to assure me he called this New Dr. Physician for me right after my last visit to discuss my case. Dr. Shafizadeh, Loralin, Annie and his whole staff have been awesome. I really hope my next physician cares as much, and I will miss him when he moves.

“Doctor Save the Day”
My family and I affectionately call him Dr. Save the Day. Also, It’s a tad easier to say than Shafizadeh! He was professional and patient with me every moment. He explains things so well. I had a large meningioma removed from my frontal lobe 8 weeks ago. I feel better than I have in 5 years. I’ll always be grateful to him and his staff. Everyone that works there was so good to me. Especially Larolin!! The hospital staff was excellent from beginning to end. I’m thankful for the Arkansas Neurology Institute, and Dr. Shafizadeh’s skills and attitude. The world is a better place with him in it. And I’m thankful to my friend Lou Ann Cushman for helping me find the best surgeon I’ve ever known.

Dr. Shafizadeh brain cancer surgery
I went to the ER with minimal symptoms and was diagnosed with a large brain tumor that due to its location posed a problem for some neurosurgeons and their hospitals. Dr. Shafizadeh took it upon himself to take my case, had a drain installed, life flighted me to his hospital where he removed the tumor and saved my life. I am recovering under his care and believe I am in the best of hands. His dedication and professionalism are unmatched. I will take my renewed life as an opportunity to "smell the roses" and appreciate everything I have to live for. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Shafizadeh and his staff (especially Larolin!)

Two for Two
Dr. Shafizadeh performed a 12.5 hour brain surgery on me in October 2016 to remove an olfactory meningioma the size of 3 golf balls that was pressing on my brain. I have had complete recovery and have been able to continue to practice law, which is my profession. Dr. S performed a 4 hour laminectomy for my spinal stenosis in October 2022. I am recovering nicely, and though it will take time for the nerves to my legs to heal, after five weeks I am already walking a mile each morning. I had trouble walking at all prior to surgery. Dr. S is very professional, honest, direct, concise and no-nonsense. He patiently listens to my questions and clearly and thoroughly answers in terms I can understand. He is cordial, caring and very knowledgeable. I would give an unqualified recommendation.

Back surgery
In 2015 I had to have a fusion at L5/S1 and had been in agony with it for several months. When I awoke in the recovery room, I could tell the pain I had been having was gone. He and his staff are very professional. He takes the time to sit and talk to you and explain everything.

Life Saver
Dr Shafizadeh performed emergency surgery on momma when she fell at home and hit her head. He called me personally and kept me up to date while I was at another hospital with my daddy who fell the day before. I hope you never need a neurosurgeon but if you do, Dr Shafizadeh is the man you want. God bless him and his staff. He is a life saver.

I had recent surgery on my neck with D. Shafizadeh. The surgery went planned as scheduled and I had no complications. I feel so much better and I am able to go back to playing pool with friends that I have not done since having major neck pain. Dr. Shafizadeh is very accurate, smart, direct with decision making and great bedside manner. Shannon his office assistant is very helpful AWESOME experience with both.

I received excellent treatment through Dr. Shafizadeh and his team when I needed diagnosis and surgery for my TIA's. Everything was done well, professionally, and skillfully, so that my problems were eliminated. I was impressed by the Dr.'s ability to explain things clearly, and to take the time to do so. The only complaint I have is the amount of time I had to spend waiting in his office for my follow-up appointment. It was over 2.5 hours; during which several other patients walked out. I believe that, if this is typical, the problem needs to be addressed for the sake of the practice. Other than that, my experience was 100% good.

Dr. Shafizadeh was wonderful, I have been a patient of his since June 2020, shortly after a condition was found on an MRI that was done for a different reason. From the start he made sure that I knew what I was getting into before we decided surgery was necessary. When he began the surgery he quickly found that this condition was worse than originally thought and adjusted his treatment to correct everything going on. His caring nature for his patients is very noticeable from the first time you meet him. His bedside manner is top notch, he explains everything in detail. I would recommend him to my family and friends

I am writing on behalf of my family member that has had to surgeries with Dr. Shafizadeh. He had one aneurysm in 2018 and was very well taken care of then he had to go back in 2019 for the left side aneurysm. Dr. Shafizadeh did a magnificent job of explaining everything that would happen during and after the procedure. He was very kind to us and his staff at the office.

Dr. Shafizadeh is a very caring and knowledgeable neurosurgeon! He has always taken the time to make sure I completely understood my diagnosis and the care plan to make me better. I was blind due to a pituitary tumor. Dr. Shafizadeh removed the very complicated tumor and I am now able to see even without glasses. His staff are also amazing people, especially Ms. Annie!

Dr. Shafizadeh is an AMAZING SURGEON! I took a fall which caused bleeding on my brain. He got me in immediately and did brain surgery, without flaw. He was VERY informative and explained the entire process in “understandable” details. He remained in contact with my family and provided consistent updates and care. He saved my life! I would highly recommend this surgeon to any and everyone in need.

I was airlifted to St. Vincent North for intracerebral hemorrhaging. I became a patient of Dr. Shafizadeh and he operated on me for an intracranial aneurysmectomy on 12/17/19. I survived this surgery miraculously with none of the devastating side-effects-blindness, paralysis, & even death. I thank God for guiding Dr. Shafizdaeh and the team for my recovery. Dr. Shafizadeh's diagnoses were clear & correct. He's a master at pictorially providing exactly the problem and its solution. May God continue to bless the knowledge and adeptness of Dr. Shafizadeh and his team.

I am writing for Larry Sansom whose surgery on his 6th & 7th vertebrae was performed on August 15th, 2019 by Dr. Stephen Shafizadeh. He has recovered completely with no problems. Dr. Shafizadeh was willing to go into great detail explaining what was being done and what could be expected. He was very concerned about Larry's feelings about his surgery. He was very kind.
