This content was provided by Dr. Pirris " Stephen M. Pirris, MD, is a neurosurgeon at the St. Vincent's Spine and Brain Institute in Jacksonville, FL. He was a consultant in Neurosurgery at the Mayo Clinic in Florida from 2009-2015 and an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He was the director of the Mayo Clinic Florida spine surgery fellowship from 2013-2015. He received a BS degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MD degree from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, followed by Neurosurgical residency training at the University of Pittsburgh. During residency, he was awarded the North American Spine Society Clinical Travelling Fellowship in 2007. Dr. Pirris' major clinical interests are complex spinal surgery, spinal deformity surgery and image guidance in spine surgery. Dr. Pirris has published over 30 original peer-reviewed articles and has presented more than 50 abstracts, posters and lectures. He serves as the President of the Florida Neurosurgery Society, on the Executive Committee of the Southern Neurosurgical Society, Robotics and Navigation committee for the North American Spine Society, as well as previously directing the "Young Guns" training portion of the Annual Pittsburgh Spine Summit. Dr. Pirris is a member of the prestigious Neurosurgical Society of America, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, as well as the Congress of Neurological Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurologic Surgery."

I have no issues with Dr Pirris at all. he is the best. I do however have an issue with their office policy. I have had two major back surgeries within a one year period with Dr. Pirris. Dr. Pirris is phenomenal! I had a MRI that showed a disc in my neck that had protruded thru my spinal fluid and was jammed up against my spinal cord. Dr Pirris did my neck (C6-C7) fusion in July of 2017. He did a fantastic job. I had no pain after surgery and felt great. when it was time to start therapy everything went good and I do my exercises daily. I am pain free after 9 months and loving life again, at 66 years old.
