In 2009, Dr Leff received the "Jack A. Raines, M.D. Humanitarian Award". This award recognizes a physician who has made an outstanding humanitarian contribution to his fellow man and community beyond the normal practice of medicine. Dr. Leff was nominated by the Dekalb Medical Society. In 1991, Dr. Leff started treating children from limited-income families that were referred to him by the Dekalb County Board of Health, at no cost. He arranged surgery, pharmaceuticals and glasses for these patients. He and his office staff volunteered one Saturday per month over five years to provide this care. This model led to the development of the Physicians Care Clinic, which has been operating for nearly 18 years under the direction of Dekalb Medical Soceity. Dr. Leff still serves as a volunteer for the clinic. (Reprinted from the 2009, Medical Association of Georgia Magazine).
