We not only do the surgery, but we're involved in a great deal of care for the patients throughout their entire continuity of their transplant experience - the evaluation before, the surgical care during the transplant - during the hospitalization - and the long-term care. We encourage family participation for several reasons. First, members of the family can be possible living donors - which is a significant advantage for any patient pursuing transplant. And it's much better for the patients to have caregivers and significant family support after a transplant.
