Dr. Hiatt is an excellent physician and Orthopedic Surgeon. I have benefited from his expertise in multiple surgeries. Now, for the support staff: I called and left 2 voicemails (not on the same day as they prefer one does not) following a recent visit. Did not hear back. I then sent an email through their secure portal - finally, an answer. In my email however, I explained how poorly my experience was to never have received a call back and attempting to get a hold of someone. Their response: A one liner letting me know they will back in touch with me. Really? Dr. Hiatt gets five stars. Support staff: 1

Excellent….
…..at covering for a P.A. Co-worker who administered a cortisone shot into my torn tendon which, I know now, is exactly the wrong treatment and is detrimental to healing. I’ve pulled my records and found both the PA and Mr Hiatt very poor at portraying an accurate account of all three of my appointments. The PA couldn’t wait to get me out of her room on my second visit after seeing the1”1/2 diameters internal bleed I had 6 mths after visit 1. Her records indicate she palpated my arm for pain in the second visit when she actually didn’t touch my arm at all. I should have known better than to see Mr. Hiatt a week or so later as he is in the same care group. I found him disingenuous, condescending and likely covering the previous “care” providers mistake. I am now going to Sono Orthopedics to get the care I need to get out of the pain I’ve been in for months. My new doctor reviewed the same MRI that Mr. Hiatt did, was emphatic that the previous cortisone shot likely worsened my tear.

Left and Right Hand Operations
Dr. Hiatt has, on two different occasions, performed operations on both of my hands. He is very accommodating of patient requests and even made last minute additions to my surgery needs on the second operation. I was scheduled to repair one trigger finger and he agreed to repair three, just before entering the operating room. All three successfully, I might add. I highly recommend him.

Fracture care
Had a wrist fracture and received care and advise. I believe the care approach was optimal and timely. The doctor was patient enough to answer my concerns. Liked the fact that he guided me to healing the wrist without surgery even though it took almost 3 months.

Follow up
I left a scathing review for my visit to KC bone and joint. I would like to amend my review and thank Dr Hiatt for the follow up call and addressing concerns with pain and lack of options. As I said in my first review, his explanation of the damage was excellent but I was not happy with his comment about having to deal with pain for an additional 6 months, 5 months into my injury. He expressed he would never order unnecessary X-rays, and it is normal for his practice to have up to the minute images. It says a lot about Dr Hiatt as a person and doctor that he called me personally and address my concerns.

This is my first encounter with this facility. Dr. Hiatt was very nice, he didn’t rush, explained everything on the x-ray, and listened to me and answered all my questions. He also gave me options in my healing process. I felt valued as a patient.

Thank you!
I had my left radial head replaced several years ago. The surgeon that did the replacement has since retired, so I reached out to KC Bone and Joint and made an appointment with Dr Hiatt. I felt very at ease with him, everyone I had contact with were friendly and professional. There was no pressure to ‘do what I say’ but reasonable options given for me to choose and feel comfortable with. I feel very comfortable going forward with his recommendations for PT.

I felt like I’d broken a bone in my right foot. Xrays, however, didn’t reveal a broken bone. This was my second time seeing this provider. The first was in 2019. I’ve seen two other providers in this practice. Both were excellent. I found Dr. Hiatt, on both visits, to be rude, dismissive and lacking even a pretence of empathy and warmth. Perhaps he doesn’t understand how important a good bedside manner is. I won’t speculate about his personality or his training. I just felt very devalued by this man. I think I should leave my remarks there. I’m still offended by his response to me yesterday.
