7 years ago Dr. Schleuder had the courage and wisdom to recommend I see another surgeon. She knew her team's limits and stated them with honesty. She felt my cancer tumor was too complicated for a Tucson surgeon. I am forever grateful that I went to Memorial Sloan Kettering for a second opinion. They recommended waiting to see if the tumor would continue to shrink. I never had surgery and my rectum, spine, and pelvis are intact today. I am forever grateful that she controlled her ego and gave me honest truth.

Dr. Schluender is an outstanding surgeon, however follow up and after surgery care left a lot to be desired. I had problems after surgery that were not expected; prior to surgery the possible side affects were not discussed in detail. I was told I would have watery stools and would be able to go back to work in 3 to 4 weeks. It had now been six months and I have not fully recovered. In fact I had to retire early; a financial move I hadn't anticipated. When I would call the office for follow-up appointments they made me feel like they were doing me a favor. Because my health had not improved my family doctor send me to another doctor. It was determined I many have a bowel blockage and I was put in the hospital. Before taking invasive steps I asked Dr Schluender's office for their opinion. After almost 4 weeks me t asked me too come in to discuss options, however getting an appointment to fit my schedule was virtually impossible & they would not discuss over phone. Frustrating!

I don't know if this review can do enough justice for Dr. Schluender and her staff. First meeting with her was for a laparoscopic colectomy consult. She spent an hour with me explaining everything and answering my questions. She also outlined a pre and post operative protocol that she wanted me to follow. I was up and walking 2 hours after getting to my room. She was there first thing in the AM to check on me. Released 23 hrs. after surgery. She's an amazing, dedicated and compassionate surgeon.

Having a colon resection is not easy but Dr. Shluender made it as easy as, I'm sure, is possible. She treated my husband and I as if we were her only patients. She showed us what would happen during surgery, she gave us ideas of things to do before surgery to make recovery faster and easier. Her demeanor was professional yet friendly. We will definitely recommend her for this type of surgery. And her office staff excels .

I was highly impressed with Dr Schluender. In my case I am in need of JPouch surgery. She is very confident but also very honest. Because of a prior surgery and how complicated my case is she said she would do it but she wants me close to my transplant team. Again she was confident that she could do it but not having that specific team here in Tucson she wants me to meet a specialist. You do not find doctors this honest and confident very often. I trust her judgement 100%.

Well the exam she gave me was very thorough, My overall experience was extremely poor. I waited for almost 40 minutes before being seen after which she made me feel like I was completely wasting her time. When the exam was over she rushed out of the room. She didn't tell me anything that I was supposed to do or if I was supposed to wait for a nurse to come in for further instructions. I waited in the exam room by myself for 5 minutes before leaving. Extremely dissatisfied.

I arrived at Dr Schluender's office a few months ago on a second opinion. After seeing another Dr for a few years and no relief. To be honest I was a mess and in pain for over 3 years. She surprised me because she knew exactly what I was going through and what needed to be done. Always reassuring me things would get better and things would get fixed. I actually saw Dr Schulender today for my post surgery check up and I'm on my way to being back to normal. Thank you Dr Schulender!!!!
