This content was provided by Dr. Kreuzer "As a Board-Certified and Fellowship-Trained Joint Replacement Surgeon, Stefan Kreuzer, MD, has pioneered the development in Minimally Invasive and Computer Assisted hip and knee replacement surgery. He is actively involved in training and has been invited to lecture and demonstrate his surgical techniques for surgeons throughout the United States, Asia and Europe. Dr. Kreuzer is currently on multiple design teams for the development of the next generation of knee and hip implants, and has devoted his career to improving the quality of life for the patient in need of joint replacement surgery with many Research and Academic interests in addition to his clinical practice. He also serves on several medical advisory boards; he is on the Clinical advisory Board of Surgical Care Affiliates, a Board member of ISTA and the Chairman of the Masters Course on Anterior Hip Replacement Surgery with ICJR in Houston. A native of Switzerland, Dr. Kreuzer moved to the United States in 1983. He graduated from medical school at the University of Texas in San Antonio in 1995, and went to Galveston, Texas for his orthopedic residency. He then completed a Fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 2001. Dr Kreuzer has performed over 4000 anterior hip replacement and is one of the very few experts in the world to also perform revision total hip replacement through the anterior approach. Dr. Kreuzer is also the world expert on Robotic Joint replacement surgery as he was on the development team of the MAKO robot for Anterior Hip Replacement and MAKO total knee replacement. In fact he was one of three surgeon to participate in the initial FDA approval study. He is currently working with the next generation robotic surgery with Think Surgical assisting in there FDA approval trial. As a pioneer in the field of joint replacement surgery he has a consultant to many device companies assisting them to further advance the care path for patients. Dr. Kreuzer is also pioneering the field of outpatient total Joint surgery working to develop care paths and protocols to allow minimally invasive joint replacement surgery being performed in the outpatient setting allowing quicker recovery, less complications, and quicker return to a functional live style. He is working with software companies to develop care path with the help of activity monitors and smart phones to facilitate a quicker road to recovery."
