Horrible experience. You don't dare disagree with this guy or he gets mad and shuts you down. This could not have screwed us up more. My EX-spouse is an alcoholic which broke up the marriage. But I made the mistake of letting her meet Dr. Hertz without me first. Without ever talking to me he just took her side because of their first meeting. I asked him what professional psychiatrist works this way? The question was a "how dare you" moment. I paid and left. AVOID at all costs. Terrible.

This is a very thoughtful doctor. While he has a no nonsense approach, I feel you go to him for your medication and a psychologist for more indepth discussion sessions. This is the first doctor that didn't overdrug my son. He listens to him, and does what he can to make the patient feel better. If something doesn't work, he comes up with other ideas. I would recommend him to people because I feel he "gave me back my son." Only wish is if the sessions were a bit longer.

Never! Anorexia Nervosa is something you never quite get over, rather manage at different stages of your life. He is more about the hospitalization and weight gain than the terror the mere idea of it causes in the patient. When you annoy him by holding onto the only thing you can control, what anotexia is all about-at least for me it was the only thing "I" controlled, he dumps you in a locked mental ward where non of the workers understand why you're there, until a new MD is ALLOWED to save you

Dr Hertz is quite capable of making a well-thought treatment plan, and does not assume that a psychiatric medication that is often prescribed for a particular diagnosis works for a given patient. He can listen:Many psychiatrists are too rigid and do not consider what a patient experiences, to the detriment of their patients. As a parent of an adolescent in treatment, I felt Dr Hertz gave fair consideration of all available reliable information, including my observations and conclusions.
