Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Chan "Patients are number one in this office. This means that I listen to my patients' histories and concerns.  Putting patients as number one also means doing a careful examination.  You see,  a careful examination is the key to getting the right diagnosis when combined with patient history.  In my experience, I found that this sometimes uncovers diagnosis that might have been missed before.  There are so many medications available for different ailments. When medications need to be used, they should be used judiciously and appropriately for the patient's condition. As everyone knows, the medical field is rapidly evolving, ever changing.  I believe that in order to provide the best medical care, a physician needs to update frequently and adapt to new technology as appropriate to patient care.  For example, in the area of hepatitis there are new medications that have been developed allows for easier treatment and even cure. This is an example of the importance of being up to date in knowledge.  In terms of technology, there are numerous examples.  In my office I have the new Bravo pH monitor that allows for accurate diagnosis of a common acid reflux disease, known as GERD.  ENDOCUFF is an ingenious device that helps to make colonoscopy better in detecting polyps. Better detection of polyps means better prevention of colorectal cancer. The whole point of a colonoscopy is to detect and remove polyps so as to prevent cancer. If one is to have a colonoscopy isn't it better to use the best technology so that polyps are less likely to be missed at all?  For patients who have loss of continence which is an embarrassing condition that many are afraid to discuss it even with their physicians, we have the state of the art ImTone device to help achieve better continence.  Our office is also equipped with the state of the art high resolution and a rectal manometry (ARM) To determine the cause of conditions such as constipation and stool leakage.  For conditions such as achalasia, we have the state of the art high resolution esophageal manometry to make the right diagnosis.  in fact there is a new endoscopic treatment for achalasia that does require any cutting through the chest or at the men at all!In summary, this is a patient first practice that uses latest information, combined with the best technology that adapt to the ever-changing environment of medicine.  We provide many services in a personalized way, in the convenience of our office setting."
