Dr. L was thorough, patient and sure to offer explanation. However, I had a severe reaction to drops she had given me: her office staff and her response were not only unprofessional but abusive. Her secretary continuously miscommunicated, told me NOT to email the dr, and that she would call me back. I never received a call. When they wanted to confirm my next appmt, I relayed my concerns and was accused of bullying the secretary. Dr. L took no responsibility, said I should have emailed her.

An excellent dr. is hard to find these days, especially one that embodies both the medical knowledge, always going above and beyond for patients, professionalism, superb bedside manner, and taking the appropriate time to know each patient, figure out what is really going on, and explaining so the patient has a complete understanding. She possesses knowledge that they do not teach you in medical schools that is very important and life saving.

Very knowledgable, intelligent and insightful doctor. Thinks "outside" the box as well as inside being a regular MD. as well as a Functional MD. REALLY GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLS....IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND, Easy to talk to and takes the time to listen and explain. So happy I found her....I feel in good hands!

      Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

      Dr. Leventhal's Care Philosophy

I am a former oncologist/hematologist currently practicing Functional Medicine, a branch of medicine that uses nutritional science and biochemistry to holistically approach wellness and disease. In my practice, I explore the genetic and environmental factors that influence wellness - from complex diseases such as cancer and Lyme Disease to chronic illnesses such as fatigue and Crohn's disease. I also provide nutritional and detoxification support to individuals suffering from cancer as well as chronic diseases. Appointments typically last 1.5-2 hours and include a traditional medical exam/history and possible labs. Nutritional, non-toxic treatments are always used first with an attention to diet and lifestyle. Learn more at www.hudsonvalleyfunctionalmedicine.org
