This content was provided by Dr. Mehta There are many different ways of removing a skin cancer. And my specialty, Mohs micrographic surgery, allows me to remove particular skin cancers that are either previously excised - or previously removed - or recurrent skin cancer, or if they're located on the head and neck, or if they're located on the arms or on the body where they're greater than two centimeters - so bigger than the size of a quarter. So any area such as your eyelids, your nose, your lips, your ears, those are the more common areas where we operate and perform the Mohs micrographic surgery, because not only does it provide the best cure rate, but it also provides us to take the least amount of normal tissue as possible - which means the chances of having a smaller scar are much higher because we're not removing as much normal tissue.
