I made an appointment with this surgeon because I needed surgery. The scheduling nurse specifically told me that this surgeon was going to see me. I then drove hundreds of miles only to be disappointed. Rather than seeing this surgeon, I was switched to a nurse who said he can perform the surgery as a nurse practitioner. I wanted a surgeon but got a nurse practitioner.

I recently had a surgery. I went into it with all the nervousness that most men have. Both dr. Helo and the staff treated me and my wife with utmost respect. They were really into making everything perfect and making me comfortable. The procedure was nearly painless and had numbing medication that lasted for 4 days after the surgery. Had I known it was going to be an even remotely close to this, I would not have been so nervous. The morning after surgery, my wife even received a phone call from dr. Helo herself, just to see how I was. I couldn't recommend her or the Mayo Clinic enough. We drove five and a half hours to go there, and after receiving the treatment that I did, I would have driven 20.

Everybody at Mayo was great. We are really glad we made the decision to go there. Even though it was a distance to travel.
It would be nice if they had a magic wand. But you can't have evrything

I was a surgical patient of Dr. Helo and I have to say she was compassionate, friendly, exceptionally skillful, and talked me through the procedure (my surgery was with light sedation). If you need a vasectomy reversal for pain or restored fertility, especially if you are paying out of pocket, I believe going to Dr. Helo at Mayo Clinic the best option.
I am a healthcare professional so I come at it with that perspective and I cannot recommend her enough. So glad I made the trip from Maine to be seen by her at Mayo Clinic. Thank you very much for your excellence and dedication to your work Dr. Helo!
