The best of the best!
Dr. Stowers is the most down to earth doctor! He wants you to succeed and truly cares about his patients! Only regret was not having surgery sooner. He will forever have a huge space in my heart. Thank you Doc for giving me my life back! If you are thinking about having surgery please call his office. You will be so happy once you meet him and get team and see how easy they make the process.
Dr. Stowers and his team are absolutely incredible! From my very first visit, they were all extremely friendly and made me feel very comfortable. His bedside manner is fantastic and you do not feel like you are just a number, which was huge for me. They guide you on your journey without missing a beat. Best decision I've ever made for MYSELF! Definitely makes you feel like family when you see them! CAN'T THANK THEM ENOUGH!!
The staff at The Bariatric Experts are 5??. From the first contact to surgery and post surgical follow ups, they have been nothing but amazing. I highly recommend them!!
Dr. Stowers was recommended to me by my Orthopedic Specialist. Basically, if I didn't lose weight I was headed for a knee replacement. Dr. Stowers' office is efficient and worked with my schedule and insurance. I had my surgery in December 2019 and everything went very smoothly. I was careful to follow their pre and post-op instructions. Recently, I had a scheduling mishap and the PA was late and I had to leave. The office manager refunded my co-pay, the PA called me and we completed our visit. They really do care! The staff is extremely willing to meet with you to talk over dietary needs and keep you on track to get to your goal weight. I recommend the Bariatric Experts for your weightloss needs.
Dr. Stowers performed 2 surgeries on me - LapBand installation and later removal and a Gastric Sleeve. I say “on” and not “for” because he admitted to having burned/poked holes in my upper stomach during the performance of my Sleeve, causing me to be home bound for months while he treated the pockets of infection this caused. It was discovered 15 months later that he had and failed to complete the closure of the stomach, in addition. I ended up hospitalized for 3 months at Baylor the following summer when the HUGE infection it caused was discovered. I am blessed to have survived. The most hurtful thing about it all was that he accused ME of doing something wrong when the first infections were discovered, a week after the LapBand removal/Sleeve surgery. He DID cover the cost for the home health care I required after the first infections were found. However, I had no more contact with him following that experience.
Dr. Stowers has no bedside manner. He was unprofessional in his non-medical comments, and had no empathy when he diagnosed that I would require surgery.

Don't do it. My sister died at 49 years of age one year after Dr. Stowers operated on her. She had issues starting one month post surgery and no one helped her. Just kept giving gastro meds.
From the moment I met Dr. Stowers to discuss the gastric sleeve surgery, I knew I would be okay! He was beyond great and I did not have any problems. I highly recommend Dr. Stowers!
The staff and surgeons are nice. They are owned by the hospital they do the surgery at in Decatur. If your insurance will pay for your band removal but not your revision they will offer you a "discounted" rate for the revision and make 5x as much off of you when your insurance pays for the lapband removal. They did not offer to assist in getting my insurance to pay for the revision. Their billing policies make me not trust them.
Customer service complete fail. You will only meet Dr. Stowers once through the entire process. Staff is friendly but they do not take care of the patients. Would not recommend him to my worst enemy.
I work in the medical field and after first consulting with a physician in Oklahoma, I chose Dr. Stowers. From the front desk staff, nursing, nutritionist, billing, and then Dr. Stowers, I was totally satisfied with their professionalism. He is an amazing surgeon with a God-given talent. He made a difference in my life, and I would recommend him to anyone with a weight problem.
Very professional and thorough!!! He explained everything about the gastric sleeve surgery and was more than willing to answer any questions I had. His whole program is top notch!!!!
