I arrived 10 minutes before my appt time. Within 15 minutes, the front desk announced that Dr Shawn was running 45 minutes behind. I planned my day at work around this appt. I only allowed 1 hour for the appt knowing I really only needed 20 mins at most. If the office knew they were running that far behind, I would have appreciated a call or a text in advance telling me of the delay. I couldn’t stay for my appt and had to reschedule at another facility.

I’m very disappointed with the service of OrthoCarolina but specially with Dr. Scott Shawen because he authorized to the front desk to dismiss me for only 5 minutes late when there policy is 15 minutes. By mistake I was at the Blakeney location and the front desk called to the Ballantyne location and it was told to her to let me come because I still have time. As a Dr. I do have same policy in my office but I will never dismiss a patient for coming 5 minutes late. Very disrespectful to my time.

I felt that Dr. Shawen was very communicative with me and my wife. He asked thorough questions and listened very carefully to our questions. He was open to getting to know us, and thus better serve our needs. We believe we would have no hesitancy to refer others to Dr. Shawen for Foot and Ankle issues.

I like Dr. Shawen - he is very personable and friendly, he listens and responds to all questions. I only gave 4 stars this time because I left the office feeling unsure of my condition. A fellow doctor was first to enter the exam room , asked and responded to questions and from what she said I felt like the major surgery I would have eventually undergone (as discussed in previous appointments) was probably not going to be the situation. Not enough room to fully respond here
