For Dr. Scott Sauer, the word strength has a double meaning. "I want to empower my patients to improve their quality of life," he says. "I want them to feel strong and without limitations." Dr. Sauer graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1998 and is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He was the first physician in the Lehigh Valley to be certified to perform the Scandinavian Total Ankle Replacement, which is the only FDA-approved mobile bearing total ankle replacement in the United States. A specialist in all aspects of caring for the foot and ankle, including the treatment of athletes on the high school, college and professional level, and limb-saving procedures and arthritis, Dr. Sauer has had articles published in numerous orthopedic journals and books. He has done international service work, lectured physicians, taught medical students and residents, and has performed reconstructive procedures on underprivileged patients. Dr. Sauer's choice to become a physician stems from his desire to help people and his appreciation for his father, who is also a physician and his role model. Dr. Sauer sees patients at numerous Coordinated Health campuses.
