After graduating from North Central High School, he received a bachelor's degree in Biology from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN; and he earned a medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine. He remained in Indianapolis thereafter completing general surgery residency at IUSM. Dr. Mimms has participated in a minimally invasive and bariatric fellowship at IU Health North Hospital. He is a board certified general surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive general surgery, endoscopy, and bariatric surgery with an emphasis on single incision da Vinci cholecystectomies, endoscopic fundoplication, and da Vinci foregut surgery. He loves to teach as he dedicates himself to lifelong learning, and teaching patients how to be healthy and how to live better. He has presented his data and personal experience with Da Vinci Surgery in the region, and he was listed as an upcoming surgeon in the Indianapolis Star. With his advanced surgical skills and exceptional patient care, he has founded Advanced Surgery of Indiana so that he may fulfill his mission. He enjoys music, dancing, exercising, watching sports, singing and playing the piano. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and extended family."
