Somewhere there is a picture of me taken at age four captioned %"wants to be a doctor.%" More than 50 years later I don't remember why I made this decision but I hope it was to make people better. It's what gets me out of bed in the morning. I particularly enjoy finding and removing polyps in asymptomatic patients who many times don't think they need a colonoscopy. Whether they know it or not it can change their lives. I am delighted to be back at Duke. In the 1980s expert clinicians like doctors Greenfield Garbutt Gunnells Floyd Silberman Neelon and Corey tried their best to teach me how to care for patients. I always try to not disappoint them. I look forward to working with Duke's experts of today.
