I have had several procedures done by Dr. Kaltreider and I highly recommend her to friends. She's the best!
in Culpeper, VA |
Dr. Kaltreider missed during surgery the small growth in my eye that she was trying to remove. 1 week post-op, I saw Dr. K who said it was "just swelling." She was very kind, but it was NOT swelling! I transferred to UVA since she missed it. Dr. K's office billed me for the full amount for "tumor removal"--$1200! I requested they consider lowering the bill and Monique the secretary was quite rude &no one returned my call. I paid the bill to end the drama. Would not recommend.
The tumor was not "missed" during surgery. A 1 cm vascular lesion, a varix, was removed from the orbit. On the follow up visit, a 1mm grain, likely calcium, was palpable. No residual varix was visible or palpable. I encouraged her not to push her finger deep into the orbit as this can cause harm to the delicate tissues around the eye. Orbital surgery involves risks to delicate structures within the eye socket and is performed by highly skilled surgeons. I am sorry that she sees this as drama.

Dr. Kaltreider says...

I have provided Oculoplastics subspecialty care in Virginia for 30 years, and have extensive surgical experience in surgery of the eyelids, orbit, and lacrimal system. Procedures within my expertise include eyelid surgery - cosmetic and functional, orbital tumor and trauma surgery, lacrimal (tear drainage) surgery, and reconstructive surgery. Facial cosmetic procedures also include Botox® injections, MiXto® CO2 Fractional  laser skin resurfacing, photofacials (OPL), filler injections, and micropigmentation (permanent makeup). My background, technical skills in microsurgery, expertise in local anesthesia in the eyelid and facial area, and in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy allow me to deliver safe, effective and comfortable procedures. More than thirty years of experience have given me insight into various combinations of procedures to provide optimal results. I am uniquely qualified to present my clients with options for their care that are particularly suited to individual needs.

Dr. Kaltreider says...

My educational background includes a B.S. in Chemistry at the College of William & Mary followed by an M.D. at Medical College of Virginia – Virginia Commonwealth University. After internship and a year of residency in Primary Care, I completed Ophthalmology Residency program at MCV-VCU. I was fortunate to study Oculoplastic, Reconstructive, Orbital & Lacrimal Surgery under Dr. Richard K. Dortzbach, a premier Oculoplastic Surgeon at University of Wisconsin. I enjoyed many years in academic practice - 6 years at MCV, and 11 years at UVA. During this time, I provided care to my patients, taught residents, pursued clinical research, published articles and book chapters, and participating in domestic and foreign teaching trips. In 2003, I started a private solo practice, and have expanded to include the latest technology in skin resurfacing, photofacial treatments, fillers, and other cosmetic non-invasive treatments. It is a joy to help my patients look and feel their best at any age!
