She practices in Cottonwood and Camp Verde. "I enjoy helping people; the field of endocrinology allows me to offer patients many options that can positively impact the rest of their lives. I encourage my patients to be involved in their medical management decisions." EXPERTISE AND SPECIAL INTERESTS Dr. Rubio specializes in diabetes, thyroid diseases and general endocrinology. She helps patients manage their diabetes through diet, other lifestyle changes and medication as appropriate. Dr. Rubio has a special interest in all aspects of thyroid disease including pregnancy-related issues, autoimmune disease, nodules and cancer. She performs fine needle aspiration biopsies using ultrasound guidance to detect thyroid cancer and to treat thyroid cysts. EDUCATION Dr. Rubio earned her medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. She pursued further education in New York City, including an internal medicine internship and residency at the Cabrini Medical Center. Dr. Rubio also completed an endocrinology and metabolism fellowship at St. Vincent's Medical Center, and studied metabolic bone disease at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Certifications and Memberships Dr. Rubio is board certified in internal medicine and in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and a member of the American Diabetes Association, the American Thyroid Association, the Endocrine Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.
