I started therapy at TOCA back in July 2019. Physical therapists and their assistants are great, they are very caring and work so well together. Unfortunately I had a tremendous amount of pain and needed surgery to repair a rotator cuff tear and some other issues in my shoulder. Dr. Harmsen is an excellent surgeon! I’ve been pain free going on three months now. Everyone at TOCA is just amazing!!!

Dr Harmsen made a great connection, was crystal clear in educating me about the problem, and then discussed the plan and the conservative but effective treatment that I needed.

Awesome person to deal with. He was very informative during the entire process and did an amazing job. I had a career ending injury that few doctors could have repaired. Dr Harmsen was suggested to me by another surgeon and thankful he was. Due to him I was returned to fully functioning and back to work. I can’t say enough about how thankful I am for what he was able to do.

I had shoulder surgery in February 2019 and just had my one year check up. I told Dr. Harmsen I probably didn't need to come in, as every is really working great with shoulder. I was told that rotator cuff and some other clean up was rough. I went in strong, and prepared the time for PT. I was not prepared for the realistic amount of down time and pain. Almost 5 months into PT, I was questioning if it was a smart choice. It was, and Dr. Harmsen and his team did great. One year later, and I am not restricted on any activities, and am mostly pain free! Thank-you, Gary.

Not that great! Dr. Harmsen does lack people skills. I would not go back to him. The office did not return the follow up call . I had to call them.

Waited for over an hour with no explanation from staff on the long delay. When I asked the back office assistant said yes we have a small delay. An hour wait is not a small delay. WhenDr Harmsen came I he apologized and was professional. Was out of the exam within 20 mins Here’s a tip, have your staff relay why your delayed. My time is as valuable to me as yours is to you

If you really enjoy buying a new car from Tex Earnhardt, you're going to love dealing with Harmsen. Great service when hes selling his surgery. It pretty much turns to zero service after the sale. I mean i guess he's a decent surgeon, but terrible follow up visits. When i got my stitches out, the nurse didnt use gloves, and put the butterfly bandages on so quick that when i got home 2 of them weren't even over the incisions. He was rude, talked over me, and was generally a rude jerk. For the amount of money they charge you would think the service would be better. Funny, said the same thing when i bought my lexus.

The appointment was great, the staff were wonderful. Dr Harmsen, needs intensive training on bedside manner and soft skills. The time he spent with me felt rushed once he finally made it into the exam room. His rate of speech was unnaturally rapid. His demeanor was dismissive. Instead of answering my questions, he got loud and aggressive stating he knew what he was talking about and that I should trust him. When I expressed my concern over Harmsens bedside manner and my general experience with him to the nurse who came in afterwards to give me his treatment recommendation, she was not surprised and gave the impression this was typical of this doctor. I am seeking a second opinion.

Dr. Harmsen looks at all options and isn't eager to operate unless necessary. He replaced one of my shoulders and did a great job. I'm a challenging case so that's high praise.

Dr. Harmsen replaced my right shoulder 2.5 years ago. WONDRFUL RESULTS. Now my 74 year old is acting up so I only was interested in seeing him. Really a great doc and person Suggested not ready for replacement yet so try injection to see if that works. Cares about his patients, for sure. TOCA is a super facility all aound.

Everything about the experience was positive. Scheduling was easy, office staff pleasant and nice to interact with. Dr. Harmsen was great, spoke so I understood what was happening, took a conservative approach which I appreciate. I would definitely recommend Dr. Harmsen.
