Dr. Harmsen was the 4th orthopedic surgeon I saw to see if a total shoulder implant I had 2 years before which had failed, if there was something he could do. He spent appoximately an hour with me, sent me for more tests, and when I came back he explained he would do a reverse shoulder implant. He has enormous patience and compassion. I am approximately 10 weeks after surgery and have excellent range of motion. Out of all orthopedic surgeons I've been to, he is the best!

Dr. Harmsen was great. Very knowledgeable and great bedside manner. Took time with me and answered all my questions. His approach was conservative treatment first rather than jumping into surgery. His PA Megan was also great!

Outstanding! Direct, clear and concise in my dealings. He has replaced both shoulders for me. I’m still early in rehab process of second surgery but everything appears on target for the same success as the first surgery.

This was a second opinion visit . The PA Megan visited first asking about my health. I explained that I have a partial tear with left rotator cuff and severe tendinitis on left elbow (tennis/golf). She has read the MRI report and proceeded to get a board with an illustration of a shoulder and another of an elbow . She reviewed my situation clearly and was easy to understand my diagnosis . Then Dr Harmsen can in and reviewed everything, gave me a diagnosis and treatment alternatives. He is very conservative and did not recommend surgery (I was prepared for surgery). He then referred my to his associate who is a non surgical orthopedic doctor for my elbow. I was given the option of cortisone injection and fortunately took it. Megan gave the injection, it was easy and feel great today!! Needless to say I highly recommend this practice and will be staying here.

Dr. Harmsen is great! He listens to me and that’s saying something because I have seen him 10 times in 2.5 years not including my surgery with him. I have not made it easy on him and yet he sticks with me. He is patient and understanding. Not every case is cut and dry and that can be incredibly frustrating for a patient. It makes it 100x easier to deal with when your doctor feels like an advocate. Dr. Harmsen is an advocate!

Dr.Hermsen is an incredibly knowledgeable physician and skilled surgeon. I was hit by a car with shoulder damage requiring surgery. The results have met and exceeded all of my expectations. Recently had left shoulder pain. A quick and thorough exam with questions throughout determined need for injection. Fyi, these can really hurt, but Dr. Hermsen explained how he would perform the injection and it was quick and painless. He has a great bedside manner as well.

Dr. Harmsen performed extensive shoulder surgery on my left shoulder a year ago. I am very happy with the care I received at TOCA and with the results. Dr. Harmsen is proficient, caring and very personable. I had some difficulties getting my surgery scheduled and Dr. Harmsen's scheduler, Vanessa, was extremely helpful in getting everything I needed together. I have seen several doctors at TOCA over the years and have always been completely satisfied.
