The worst doctor ever. He told my 83-year old terminally ill, mentally altered mother that if she didn’t agree to an in-patient psychiatric stay, that he would take her to court. Even my mom’s primary care doc as well as her attending physicians think he’s impossible and wrong. Hard to believe Abington Jefferson Hospital would keep him on staff.

Incompetent. My 83-year old mother is being committed for in-patient psychiatric by Dr. Carson despite her terminal diagnosis and DNR and against hers and her family’s wishes. Her assisted living facility is capable and ready to take her. He also threatened to take her to court unless she agreed. Abington Hospital is fantastic, but this Dr. should be retired.

I can virtually guarantee that any good reviews on here are fake; most likely "Dr." Carson himself.

This is the first negative healthgrades review I have left. I took my 85 year old mother to Dr. Carson for hallucinations. He gave her many different dangerous anti-psychotic medicines, that I have since learned should never be given to the elderly. The medicines had a horrible effect on her. He then convinced her to check herself into Abingtons Psychiatric ward, which also house criminally psychotic individuals. A place that a kind, gentle senior should NEVER be placed. Do NOT go to this Dr

I have the highest respect for doctors but In my opinion, Carson is a quack. I was under his care for severe depression & anxiety for 6 months. During this time he was constantly changing my depression medications. Also, I had a strong feeling that he wanted me to become dependent on anxiolytics & thus insure my dependence on him. I also found him smug, unprofessional, condescending. I believe Carson KNOWINGLY prolonged my illness so be very wary & listen to your gut. He is not a good person.

How's this for a sample of Dr. Sam's logic: I have Julian and Hebrew calendar birth dates. I was born on the 19th of my secular month and the 16th of my Jewish month. The 19th letter of the alphabet is S; the 16th is P. Dr. Sam says that because the word "sane" begins with S, I would have to be "insane" to live in Philadelphia. "That's funny, Sam," I replied. "I was sure I had a pulse."

I only had him for a Dr when I was inpatient at Abington Health. I had been taking the same medications for 18 years. Each time I was at Abington for a medical issue I experienced the same problem. Although a list of my medications was given numerous times they were never ordered for me. Whether it's the attending or resident Drs this is unacceptable. After letting the psychiatrist know what continued to happen she advised me to take my own medicines to avoid withdraw. That should never be.
