Dr. Sobel was referred to me independently by two endocrinologists, which was my first indication that he is highly regarded. Every step along the way, from the initial consultation, to the post-op follow ups, he has been terrific. Regarding the surgery, his work was astoundingly good. My recover has been infinitely easier than was expected, and my incision looks like it will leave but the slightest of scars. He is the epitome of the type of doctor under whose care one hopes to end up.
Dr. Sobel is an excellent doctor...very knowledgeable and kind. He took the time to listen. I feel confident with his expertise. I’ve already recommended my sister to Dr. Sobel.

This is my first HealthGrades review and I am so excited to tell you about Dr. Ryan Sobel. Dr. Sobel is great!!! He is a highly skilled surgeon who knew exactly what needed to be done to address my medical issue. However, I was most impressed with his personality and bedside manner. He was very thorough in his explanation and I left there feeling very comfortable and prepared. The surgery went incredibly well and his follow up was amazing. Everyone needs a surgeon like Dr. Sobel!!! He is awesome

My experience with Dr. Sobel was pleasant and he seemed genuinely concerned about my well being, unlike some doctors.
in Columbia, MD |
It was a pleasure to be a patient of Dr. Sobel's. He is truly one of the kindest people I have ever met and matched by his high level of medical and surgical skills. I looked forward to our visits. I felt trusting and confident in him from our first meeting. He was open and welcomed any and all questions. If there was one thing I'd ask him to do differently, it would be to call and let me know any test results of the removed tissue if he knows them before my first post op visit. Thank you, Doc!

He performed my thyroid surgery very pleased with him. Very personable and answered all my questions.
Pikesville, MD |
Dr. Sobel is an EXCELLENT Surgeon and warm Doctor! I visited him for an extremely large thyroid goiter and a neck mass no other doctor recognized. He's professional, gentle and easy to talk to, explaining, the results of every MRI, scope and sonogram I had. Dr. Sobel removed that left side of my thyroid, with amazing results! I can swallow and lay down without pain, AND THERE IS NO VISIBLE SCAR! Thyroid surgery involves a cut under the throat, but NO ONE CAN TELL I'VE BEEN CUT!! Amazing!!
in Cockeysville, MD |
Smooth and comfortable process prior to and follow up to surgery. My results came back great so I am a bit biased. I would recommend Dr Sobel. Thank you
in Towson, MD |
Dr. Sobel is outstanding.I had several surgeries with him and his team. I am extremely pleased. He took time to explain everything he was going to do during the operation. He answered every question my wife and I asked him. He talks with you and not at you. I would also mention Dr. Joseph who was also excellent. Again a doctor with empathy and professionalism. Finally the entire staff up front and those in the back who set up apps's and those who work with Doc esp. Angie.
Westminster, MD |
With Dr. Sobel's expertise and experience, I thought he'd be arrogant. Wrong - he is so kind and caring. I am so fortunate that when my diagnosing dr. found throat cancer, he referred me to Dr. Sobel. With his help I'm now in remission. I wish he was my family doctor.

Went to Dr. Sobel because I felt something and wasn't feeling right. He did tests, a FNA biopsy and then a partial thyroidectomy. He took time to explain everything. He's very caring and calming and gets back to you quickly on results. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
in Fallston, MD |
Dr. Sobel is my favorite doctor because he is kind, considerate, and very knowledgeable. When I first met him I knew he was the one I wanted to do my total thyroidectomy. Having been diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the end of August this year, I was still trying to accept the fact that I had cancer. He was more than willing to explain why I needed the surgery and what the results would be. He answered all of my questions and even examined my vocal cords. Can't say enough good things about him!
Baltimore, MD |
Extremely patient focused, detailed, warm demeanor, patient and very attentive.
in Parkville, Maryland |
Dr. Sobel was calming and made me feel comfortable and secure. He was very knowledgable and made sure to answer any questions I had. His staff was very friendly and caring. I will highly recommend him and the office to anyone! Thank you again!!
