I'm a case manager who has referred five individuals to Dr. Schmidtz and each has had a very positive experience. I attend the appointments with a few such people and have been impressed each time with Dr. Schmidtz' thoroughness, candor, explanations, and ability to connect with my clients. He is especially keen with regard to medications and has made tremendous differences in the lives of the people I've sent there with a combination of knowing LOTS about meds, how they work, and they could solve a particular client's problem. He's responsive, current with regard to the psychiatric research base, very helpful, and compassionate. I give Dr. Schmidtz a definite two thumbs up and if I had more thumbs, those would be up too. He's been a lifesaver for many I know.

Dr. Schmidtz has been treating me for over 4 years. He has patients and good listening skills. What is prescribed for me has made my life more manageable? The racing thoughts I've experienced are all but gone. He has help given me the tools to face each day with a smile. Now I can climb out of bed each day with excitement. Thank you Doctor Schmidtz. 5 stats.

There's a reason he's the only Psychiatrist I could get into see, he's terrible. He treats his patients like they're a burden to him and his practice. He has no business working in the mental health field. I feel bad for anyone being treated by him. I never leave reviews but this guy is so bad I felt obligated to steer people as far away from this guy as possible.

He doesn't explain anything, never looks you in the eye, and just types on his computer while leaving you in awkward silence for minutes at a time. He doesn't even go over any medication changes with you, just writes down a vague note about it and hands it to you. I have a lot of experience being treated by mental health professionals and working with him has been one of the most useless and unhelpful experiences I've had.

Awful. This hack has been trying to treat my mother for well over a year when he should have sent her to a specialist a long time ago bc he is not qualified to handle real psychiatry problems. She is worse off more now than ever. He insulted my aunt saying she was there “by default”.....he just uses you as a guinea pig and prescribes random stuff and knew nothing of my moms mental health background. Asks vague questions. My mother is nearly incapacitated now and can’t see that these drugs he has her on are not working but actually making her worse. He should have sent her to a specialist a long time ago but has kept her around bc she actually goes to her appts every two weeks and just takes the money. I had to literally suggest Lindner. He may take you as a client if no one else will but he’ll take what he can get bc he is an awful doctor. My mother has very complicated mental issues and he has watched her decline steadily with no concern. Not qualified!

Shante McNasty – Dec 11, 2019
No staff - billing is offsite, phone number goes to voicemail, but he usually returns phone calls same day. Sometimes not until evening or next day, but he returns them. Scheduling is easy - he really works with you to get you in. Office waiting room is shared and small, but "treatment" room is bigger and comfortable. He listens to what you say and answers with thorough explanations including what is happening industry-wide, his treatment and goals, and how he's going to tailor it to your specific situation. (He also works at a nearby VA facility.) What is exemplary is that he allows you to comment - it's a discussion. Makes it feel like he's a partner in your treatment - not a dictator. Also, you don't have to constantly remind him of specifics - he brings up things from earlier in my treatment before they even cross my mind. Overall, would highly recommend to anyone.

I am not a patient nor have I even met Dr. Schmidtz, but during a year long struggle to find a new psychiatrist for my son - Dr. Schmidtz was the only doctor, doctor's office or clinic that returned my call - not once but 3 times. Sadly, my son's Case Manager found a clinic before Dr. Schmidtz was able to take my son as a patient. I give him 5 stars for responding to me - when no one else did.
