Dr. Shakil has a wide range of experience in the community, providing psychiatric services to people with: Depression Anxiety Addiction Bipolar disorder Schizophrenia Eating disorders Insomnia ADD or ADHD OCD Alzheimer's disease Reproductive issues She also has experience treating PTSD, which she acquired during her time serving soldiers and veterans at the Dallas VA Medical Center. Dr. Shakil earned her doctorate degree in psychiatry from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. She is dual Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in adult as well as geriatric psychiatry. Previously, she was an assistant professor at UT Southwestern Medical School. I have been seeing Dr. Shakil for a couple years and I should have fired her long ago. She does not view the doctor patient relationship as a partnership and actually gets frustrated when you have an opinion because she wants control. Dr Shakil was just what I needed. My first 2 appointments with her were difficult for me because I knew she was right. I needed to stop taking a medicine I was on for anxiety and sleep.
