He received his undergraduate from the University of California, Berkeley and received his medical degree from New York University. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UCLA and fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Buffalo. He has additional specialty training in Hepatology & Liver Transplantation as well as Advanced Therapeutic & Interventional Endoscopy, and graduated with a Masters degree in Public Health. Dr. Yen joined Southlake Clinic in 2014 after serving many years as faculty at the University of Colorado, Denver School of Medicine, where he specialized in advanced endoscopy and served as the section's director of clinical outcomes research. Some of his previous research focused on colon polyp detection, GI cancer diagnosis and survival, liver transplant survival, and advanced endoscopy techniques. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. His clinical interests include all areas of gastroenterology, including irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, liver diseases, GI cancer staging/diagnosis, colon cancer screening, pancreaticobiliary disease, and advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures"

Wanted to schedule a colonoscopy on first visit for acid reflux. Then gave me a special diet that included tomatoes which are one of the most common foods to avoid when you have acid reflux. It was like he didn't even listen to me when I told him why I was there. Extremely disappointing and a waste...Read More

First, it took over a month to get an appointment to see him. When i did get to see Dr. Yen, the sequence of events was as follows. Dr. Yen wears a pair of purple gloves sits next to his computer. After being dropped it seems that Dr Yens only concern is scheduling expensive colonoscopies. Good luck with maintenance appointments or getting a callback from his assistant. if you are seeking a compassionate or empathetic Dr, look elsewhere.
