Care Philosophy

Acupuncture Physicians of Colorado specializes in Medical Acupuncture, Cupping Therapy, and Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy.

Acupuncture is an ancient art of healing that involves the stimulation of specific points on the body to help recovery from disease and/or to relieve pain. The stimulation may be produced by needles, heat, digital pressure, cupping, electrical stimulation, or moxibustion (a technique of stimulating acupuncture points with herbs and heat), most frequently in the form of needling.

Classical Chinese Medical Theory explains channels of energy running in regular patterns through the body and over its surface. These energy channels, called meridians, are like rivers flowing through the body to irrigate and nourish the tissues.

Modern scientific research explains acupuncture in concepts of neurology, anatomy and physiology. According to research, needling acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain.
