Dr. Schott's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Schott "Most primary care physicians have a driving need to help, to be of assistance. My medical pathway started with a large forearm laceration at age 10 where the surgical repair in the emergency ward held be in rapt fascination. Decision made - the human body, science, and the ability to learn and grasp the intricacies of human nature made medicine as a career " a done deal ". Entered Boston University's Six year Combined liberal arts - medical education program directly from high school, enjoyed six years in the mecca of academic medicine as well as succulent lobster! Married to a fellow medical student who went into pediatrics, we moved to the West Coast to follow the sun after the 1978 Boston Blizzard, where I trained in Internal Medicine at Los Angeles County - USC Medical Center. The wide range of human pathology seen, combined with the intense responsibilities thrust upon the resident physicians, provided a superb platform for my medical training, where emphasis was on acute hospital care, critical care units, and developing astute diagnostic acumen. Simply put, training at a county hospital produced some of the best physicians I have ever encountered. After completing my residency training I was a staff physician in the major trauma emergency room at County USC to teach residents and treat patients. The ability to follow patients longitudinally after a diagnosis was missing, however, and the need for developing longer, more substantial relationships with patients was beckoning. I relocated to Burbank at the end of 1981 and joined an internal medicine practice for nearly 7 years before embarking on a solo old fashioned practice of both outpatient internal medicine and inpatient acute care. So after 40 years of marriage, 35 years of independent medical practice, 3 children, 1 grandson, many wonderful rescue dogs, innumerable soccer clubs coached, soccer matches refereed, youth soccer administration posts, PGA Tour walking scorer volunteer, on course golf hacker - I am still a slave to my original passion. The ongoing study of the human body, its anatomy, its physiology; and the thousands upon thousands of hours conversing with patients who have allowed me the privilege of sharing and participating within their lives. I hope they have learned small pieces of knowledge from my care, for I have benefited far more and feel forever honored."

Dr. Schott was my Grandmother's and my Mother's Doctor. He currently treats my Aunt and Dad. I attribute their longevity to him. He is knowledgeable, thoughtful, creative, inquisitive, kind, funny and tough. He gives my Dad the scalpel of truth, with the anesthetic of love. His perseverance allows...more

I have never been to anyone like this Doctor. He is so in love with himself and thinks cause he graduated Med School, he knows it all. Does not take into consideration anything you say or ask Think he has patients that whatever he says goes with them. And then there is his loopy, space cadet, mean...more

What I appreciate most about Dr. Schott is he takes the time to listen and doesn't treat us like we're wasting his time like some Dr.'s can make you feel.. We can wait a while in the waiting room and that's ok because he's treating the patients before us with the same consideration and respect as...more
