Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Powell "Dr. Powell and his staff are committed to providing the highest quality medical and cardiovascular care possible. Dr. Powell is board certified in cardiovascular diseases. He has been practicing cardiology locally in the Fort Walton area for almost 30 years. He gives each patient the direct and personal attention that we all deserve. We participate with every major insurance company and the billing office can be reached easily while statements are handled locally. Every patient that comes into our office is seen personally by Dr. Powell and his nurse, Angie. We do not employ physician extenders or any other type of mid level providers. Every consultation and follow up office visit is conducted by Dr. Powell. We also believe that every patient's time is just as valuable to him or her as to us. For that reason the office appointments are scheduled in a way that minimizes any wait time for the patient while giving each patient ample time to fully discuss problems with Dr. Powell. Dr. Powell goes to conferences every year and completes any courses necessary to maintain his board certified status. Not only is he continually up to date on all theraputic options for any particular heart problem a patient may have, he also believes strongly in prevention to maintain good health. Preventive health care is crutial for all of us to stay healthy. Dr. Powell personally sees all of his patients admitted to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center unless he is being covered at night or on a weekend by another board certified cardiologist. FWB Medical Center hospital provides excellent patient care and the extensive facilities provide state of the art treatment options for all patients who are admitted or seen in the outpatient departments. He rounds daily on all of his admitted patients there in order to coordinate the cardiology care and maintain essential continuity. We do not require a referral to be seen in our office. The appointment date is based on the severity of the problem as communicated to us at the time the patient calls to request an office visit. Follow up visits are handled the same way and can be made the same day if the need arises. Dr. Powell believes that emphasizing prevention while utilizing state of the art treatment options individulaized for each patient can provide every patient with the highest quality medical care at the lowest possible cost."
