Dr. Whitfield's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Whitfield "Dr. Robert Whitfield is a cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon who specializes in cutting edge techniques for the breast, face and body. His philosophy is simple: He always takes the time to do it the right way. Dr. Whitfield treats every patient, whether it's for filler or a Mommy Makeover, the exact same. His goal is to deliver the highest quality care. He wants his patients to leave the office happy with results that exceed their expectations. Born and bred in Las Vegas, Dr. Whitfield received his medical degree from the University of Las Vegas School of Medicine. This was followed by six years of surgical training as well as his plastic surgery residency at Indiana University Medical Center. He returned to Nevada for a one year microsurgery fellowship before settling down to practice and teach at the Medical College of Wisconsin for 7 years. In 2012, Dr. Whitfield came to Austin, where he became renown for his breast reconstruction work, particularly the DEIP flap. He set up his own practice in 2017. Here, he offers the men and women of Austin a full range of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures from breast augmentation, liposuction and facelifts to Juvéderm, Botox and BodyTite. Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Whitfield's approach to medicine has really been shaped by both his upbringing and his education. As a child of the "wild west", he was born with an adventurous spirit. One of the reasons that he was drawn to plastic surgery is due to its constant innovation. There aren't problems in plastic surgery. There are simply issues for which a solution has yet to be invented. But he tempers this intrepid attitude with a lot of midwestern pragmatism. It makes for a pretty winning combination. Dr. Whitfield was elected to the 2017 Texas Super Doctors list and selected by his peers as Best Doctors in America from 2004-2014 and 2017. He was voted as one of the top doctors in Austin by the Austin Monthly Magazine 2013-2014 and has been recognized as one of the 100 Top Influencers in cosmetic surgery by RealSelf. Dr. Whitfield is an active member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Medical Association and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been published in many peer reviewed medical journals and has given numerous presentations both here and abroad. Married with two children, Dr. Whitfield spends most of his free time driving his son and daughter to their respective soccer games. However, when he and his wife can get away, they love to travel internationally. Spain and France are two of his favorites. For now, though, he loves everything about living in Austin from the diversity to the food to the really fantastic music."

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Whitfield "Listening to patients is the most important skill I have acquired since I finished Medical School In 1996.  I do my best to understand how I can help them after listening to their story.  Once I feel like I understand what they may need I give them a plan tailored to their needs.  I always treat people the way I would like my family treated."
