Dr. Robert McLain served as Professor of Surgery and Director of the Spine Fellowship and Research Programs at the Cleveland Clinic for over 15 years before choosing to relocate his personal Spine Practice to the St Vincent Charity Medical Group. He is recognized Nationally and Internationally for surgical innovation and expertise. Author of more than 200 scientific articles and book chapters, he serves as an editor for Spine, and holds offices in the North American Spine Society, the Mid America Orthopaedic Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, and is an active member of International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, the Orthopaedic Research Society, the AOA, and others. Has completed and instructed in surgeon training programs for Charite, Prodisc, and LDR total disc arthroplasty, for SI Bone SI joint fusion devices, and a number of other innovative spinal technologies. He has received numerous awards for research and clinical investigation over the years, and has been a Cleveland Top Doctor since 2008, and Crain's HealthCare Hero for Clinical Practice in 2012.
