Rarely do you find a doctor with the skill and personal commitment that he has. He has the best bedside manners I have ever seen in a doctor. His skills are unmatched. Great Experience!
I went to see Dr. Ference the visit was excellent. I found out I needed total knee. He explained every detail of the surgery to me and my family. When I went to see Dr. Ference, my gait was off, and it would hurt with every step, I would take. Later I found out I had to have my other knee done. Now Dr Ference has made me whole. He is one of the best Ortho Surgeons in MI.

The Best Doctor In The World
Dr. Ference took care of my mom Lillie Terrell with the best treatment with her knee. He has a wonderful personality, he made her office visits comfortable. He took the time to answer her questions and went over her treatment options in detail. He was able to eliminate her knee pain. He was very considerate of her insurance and made sure that she received the care and treatment that was needed in spite of what insurance covered. I highly recommend him to anyone. He has a high level of intelligence and integrity!

Excellent Care
I have had 2 knee replacement surgeries and one knee revision that were performed by Dr. Robert Ference MD. He explained everything thoroughly to me beforehand and at the hospital during my stay. He is kind, considerate and compassionate to you from your first experience in his office and while you are at the hospital. He visited me while I was waiting for anesthesia, which is a very anxious time period, as this is the hardest time for me...the waiting. I was involved in a traumatic car accident which caused damage to my knee ligaments and that was why I had to have my right knee repaired. Don't fear getting your knees evaluated at Joint Plus Excel, Dr. Ference is a highly skilled surgeon with tremendous experience in orthopedics. I highly recommend him without any reservations!

Needing a knee replacement? Look no further!
Dr Ference is a Godsend! Years ago my mom had a knee replacement and never complained about knee pain after it was done. Now here 20 years later I need a knee replacement. My mom passed away and now I don’t remember the name of her Dr. I remembered it began with an “F” but just couldn’t remember his name. I started searching the internet and and asked “YouTube” for the best orthopedic surgeon in the Metro Detroit area, and Dr Ference popped up showing this computerized procedure for knee Replacement. Well I made an appointment and the rest is history. Come to find out he was the Dr who replaced my mom’s knee. I had seen 3 other orthopedics, but when it came to surgery, I just didn’t feel confident with the other doctors. I’m so glad the Lord led me to Dr Ference. I’m now recovering from my second knee replacement with Dr Ference. He will show and explain exactly what he expects to achieve. He will pray with before surgery. You’re in good hands with Dr Ference. He’s like family.

CHOOSE NO OTHER! DR. FERENCE ROCKS.
I had my second knee replacement with Dr. Ference on Nov. 21 and I am up walking confidently just three weeks later--no cane, little pain! I am not surprised; my first knee replacement went so well back on August 15 that I was signed up to go again--and already back at work teaching--just six weeks later. Dr. Ference is amazing. From start to finish, he takes time to explain everything, and supports you throughout the whole process, all while performing cutting-edge knee replacements and providing X10 home therapy that puts you ahead of the class for recovery. Unbelievably, he provides you with his number you can text or call directly. Incredibly, he reached out to check on me when he heard I was having issues with regaining bladder use due to anasthesia reactions. Definitely NOT his problem, but he not only called to be sure I was getting the medication I needed, but spent nearly 20 minutes chatting with me, making sure we covered all the bases. THANK YOU DR. FERENCE!

The bedt
Dr Ference is, by far, the most caring, dedicated physician I have ever met. Upon meeting him, you know that his main goal is to do the absolute best for his patient. He is thorough and spends as much time as necessary to make sure that you understand everything. Dr Ference did both of my knee replacements as well as my husbands. We couldn’t have had better outcomes. I would NEVER think of going anywhere for orthopedic work.

Painless Rotator Cuff Surgery
10-5-22, Dr. Ference performed surgery on my rt rotator cuff. I am a 71-year-old female. I had both rotators repaired previously by another doctor, so I was prepared for a long, painful recovery as before; but, 24 hrs after the pain blocker wore off, I NEVER took a single pain pill. I iced, took half an Ibuprofen & did my required exercises. No one, including me can believe that within days after surgery I was raking leaves off my patio, bathing & dressing w/out help, cooking my own meals, & even colored & shampooed my own hair. I had lined up tons of post-op help from my children & friends, but didn't require ANY help! My post-mobility after surgery is nothing short of a miracle, as Dr. Ference prayed & asked God for a speedy recovery & minimal pain before he did my surgery. God answered! His motto is: "I'm here to serve." He truly does. He is a compassionate human being. I have referred numerous people, including health care professionals looking for a surgeon. Great job Dr. Ference!

Amazing surgeon
I had total knee replacement July 5th on my left knee by Dr Ference and I’m amazed how well my leg and knee is performing in this short period of time. I had total knee replacement on my right knee 3 years ago and had serious pain for a full year after until someone referred me to Dr Ference, he looked at my knee and right away knew it wasn’t right, 2 years ago he replaced the top portion and adjusted the muscles to where my right knee is practically normal. This doctor cares and is empathetic towards our pain. My left shoulder is due for correction and I will not see anyone else but Dr Ference.

Tremendous Doctor
Dr. Ference is absolutely one of the best doctors I have ever encountered. I traveled a long way in great pain, Dr. Ference was able to help me. I was wheelchair bound for almost one month because my ball and socket were gone for my hip. It was one of the worst pains in my life and even Dr. Ference said how this was the most destroyed hip he has seen. Dr. Ference is one of the most compassionate doctors who not only cares to make sure he fixes you but to also help you fully understand the injury. He makes sure that the surgery will be done 100% at the most highest perfection. After 2 weeks I was able to walk with a cane and with little to no pain. It felt like a miracle. Dr. Ference prayed on me before the surgery and made me feel at ease and not worried at all. Dr. Ference treays every one patient the exact same No matter the gender, race, or social class. I couldn’t have met a better doctor than him. I cannot thank him enough for everything. I highly recommend for people to go to him

One Of A Kind Doctor
I have had numerous knee operations by other surgeons. They “fix” what was wrong and sent you on your way. Not Dr. Ference!!! He treats the problem and the soul of the patient. Dr. Ference performed a knee revision for me. I chose the best surgeon to fix my knee properly!! He made sure that I understood everything about the procedure before he did anything. My knee was wrong for so long that I couldn’t use it properly. Dr. Ference fixed it!!! He didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all. He is a nice, caring and compassionate person with an absolutely brilliant brain!! He truly is one of a kind!!!!!

Miracle Surgeon!!
Dr Ference is the best surgeon I have ever met and I would highly recommend him. He first treated my father knee replacements, then treated me for multiple acls, elbow, and rotator cuff surgery, he also treated my wife, and soon my sister. Not only do I see him as the best surgeon, but as family. He is a very compassionate and loving doctor who will actually sit and listen to you. He makes sure that the job surpasses even his own expectations of perfection. He will not leave you until he knows you are 100% recovered. He had me recovered faster than the normal recovery time is. He doesn’t treat any one patient differently based off of their skin color, gender, rich/poor, and religion. I’ve never met a doctor more caring than him which I call him family. Unlike any other doctor, he doesn’t have the biggest ego and not listen to his patients. I again highly recommend this doctor to perform any type of your orthopedic surgeries.

Hip replacement!
Amazing surgery and treatment by Dr Ference! He is so special, his gifted surgical ability combined with his personal dedication to each and every one of his patients for perfect results. I had post surgery/recover issues of vertigo and high blood pressure. Dr Ference was always available for whatever the issue. He was was there for me; my gratitude is boundless. Dr. Ference is one awesome caring Doctor. I’m from out of town about 2-1/2 hours. If you are at least that far away I wouldn’t go because his staff had me make my appointments for testing in my area, or travel down there for a 10 min test. They were rude and they had me crying, so frustrating. However, I think the Doctor is by far the best caring Doctor I have been with and I am 74.

In 2009 , Dr Ference replaced my left knee. Following this surgery, I lost 80 pounds due to increased mobility! In 2019, Dr Ference replaced my Right Knee. Both times, I was able to return to work quickly, and I exceeded my pre-surgical capacity for walking and hiking. In winter, 2022, left hip pain made walking even short distances difficult. Again, Dr Ference replaced a joint with amazing results. I am almost 69 years old, and I have found that with each joint replacement my overall health status has significantly improved. These surgeries have helped me improve my mobility and core strength, and I feel younger! Dr Ference’s technical and ethical approach are unique and remarkable. Given my age I experienced health care when it was built upon the model of the holistic Family Doctor. Doctors came to our home and cared for us as individuals, as real people. Sixty plus years later I recognize the same traits in Dr. Ference. Thank You!

Dr ference is the best surgeon I have ever met. My knee was so deformed and had no motion so I went to Mayo Clinic and the university of Michigan and they wanted to fuse my knee so I made an appointment with dr ference and now I have a straight leg and full range of motion and no pain. He’s so incredible and I can’t thank him enough.
