This content was provided by Dr. Crowell "I believe that most back problems can be treated without surgery, although sometimes nonsurgical care fails to provide satisfactory pain improvement and adequate improvement in a person's quality of life and ability to function. Sometimes surgery is very effective in relieving pain and restoring function in those with certain problems.
In caring for patients, my goal is to evaluate the nature of the problem, identify any significant risks that require urgent intervention, outline treatment options, and help everyone understand their problem. Usually nonsurgical treatment is preferable initially in the course of a neck or back problem. Advanced imaging and invasive treatments are available when needed."
