About Me

Care Philosophy

My background is electrical engineering and, in a way, that's still what I do. Though now my focus is the electrical engineering of the heart. I'm motivated by a desire to help my patients feel better and retain as normal a lifestyle as possible despite the presence of significant heart disease.

Dr. Canby was assigned to my case after having a cardiac arrest on the tennis court. What stands out about Dr. Canby hands down is how knowledgeable and thorough he is with all his patients whether you are his first of the day or one of the last ones of the day. He never rushes through and answers any questions you may have. He is personable and down to earth mixed with such great intelligence that I always feel "well taken care of"!!

The care of my elderly aunt, who is also a retired physician and very picky about who she sees, has been superb. I have appreciated the respect of the staff, as well, in their dealings with the elderly patients they see!

I have been Dr Canby's patient for 11 years. Not only is he one of the very best physicians in his field of specialty, he is compassionate and takes the time to explain in layman's terms anything you ask. He also has the absolute best nurse!

Dr Canby is direct and to the point. He is not a touchy-feely type of provider, and you know what he thinks, what he wants to do to evaluate your status, his plan of care, his follow up plans, and how he anticipates your condition will affect your life at the current point in time. His staff are more touchy-feely. All his staff were attentive, caring, and assured I understood what was happening. So, Thank you to Crystal, Rosie, Marie, Lindsey, and Natasha.

Dr. Canby was excellent with his aflutter ablation procedure on me and the follow up care a few years back. Recently met with him regarding other possible procedures and found him very open, honest and thorough in his explanation. He spent as much time as I needed to be clear about what to expect and I appreciated his expertise and knowledge in his line of work.

Most important to me is the amount of explanation and conversation we had about my arrhythmia. I feel that I'm responsible for my healthcare and that having the best doctors to support me is what I intend to do.

10 years ago Dr Canby did procedure on my heart at St David’s Hospital in Austin-now at 72 I have never had any A-Fib problems. He was happy and confident. Cancelled patient to fix me within days of meeting me in San Angelo, Tx. Went home same day,I try to educate others with symptoms to call him fast, stop suffering. My cousins from Calif&Ark also treated by his group & didn’t know this is a common genetic problem.Daughter 44 waiting for Airforce approval Thanks 4 my life! We did not meet with Dr. Canby, but did so with Jocelyn, NP. She was very attentive, informative, thorough, explained things carefully and had the patience to answer all of my questions in detail. I really felt much more comfortable after having visited with her. The staff throughout was very professional & efficient. First impression at the front window; staff change - it was a seamless transition, didn’t miss a beat, professional & efficient. It was obvious they knew their role inside and out.

I recently had an office visit with Dr. Canby. I've been dealing with TCA for over 10 years and have met with Drs. Canby, Bailey and Gallinghouse and have had interactions with Belissa Zamora and Kelly Simmons, Dr. Canby's RN. Dr. Canby (and all at TCA) are transparent and direct with the information given. They are very professional and treat patients with respect. I highly recommend TCA and all the doctors and others associated with TCA.

Dr. Canby was very personable and professional and explained my cardiac condition and the options of treating it. Dr. Canby afforded me all the time necessary to satisfy my questions. I was introduced to the staff and given instructions on how to reach them in event of an emergency or just to answer my questions. I was very pleased with my experience.
