Dr. Robert Blackwood (Family Medical Doctor) received his medical degree and Board Certification in 1984. In the thirty years since then he's dedicated his life entirely to family and medicine. As a father of ten children, with his wife, Catherine, he has a deep appreciation of the challenges families face; he understands how health issues affect relationships, and how to cope with them. As a doctor, he has a comprehensive medical knowledge, and an uncommon breadth of medical skills, having worked in both rural and urban environments, and in Family Medicine, Emergency, and Obstetrics. Although Dr. Blackwood is known for his keen mind and extensive experience as a physician, he is most sought after for his compassionate manner and care for all of his patients.

A Medical Home
A medical home is a place that provides you with personalized, comprehensive, coordinated, and continuous medical care. Your medical health involves a lot of factors — from prevention and wellness to illness and treatment, from surgery and recovery, to specialist referrals, medication, and much, much more. A medical home coordinates all your health needs — whether acute, chronic, or preventive — so that you can trust that you are getting the care you need when you need it.
The key features of a medical home are:
Personal physician. Each patient has an ongoing relationship with a personal physician who is trained to provide first contact, continuous, and comprehensive care.
Physician directed medical practice. The personal physician leads a team of individuals at the practice level who collectively take responsibility for the ongoing care of patients.
Whole person orientation. The personal physician is responsible for providing for all the patient's health care needs or taking responsibility for appropriately arranging care with other qualified professionals.
Care is coordinated and/or integrated. For example, across specialists, hospitals, home health agencies, and nursing homes.
Annual Health Exam. all patients receive complete physical exam once every year.
