My Cardiologist
Dr. Benton was recommended to me in 2021 and I am thankful he is now my cardiologist. He was very thorough in establishing my symptoms and reviewing previous test results. He ordered several tests and thankfully no major heart issues were found. BP, LDL and aspirin medication with a yearly checkup and I am happy. I find his straight to the point manner of examination and honest communication to be very personable and it conveys to me that he cares for his patients. I recommend him 5 star.

I place my life in his hands.
I had my first stress test 5 years ago using a treadmill. The test went without incident. They found enough there to encourage yearly visits. This year, Dr B ordered several tests, each one taking some time before I could move on to the next. It became a marathon. The tests were not a problem, but the waiting and the waiting room became very unpleasant. It was so cold in there, and we were there about five hours. The tests made me late for my appointment with Dr B. All of this, I've been told, is routine, but I was unprepared for it, and that was stressful. My time with Dr B was educational, useful, and very useful. I don't know where I could find any other doctor who could be such a good fit for me.

Initially got my problem under control but wasn't permanent, and didn't follow up with new plan or regimen so I'm back at square one. I initially thought he was a pretty good cardiologist but have doubts about that now. His manner is rather brusque, always seems in a hurry to get to the next patient. If you ask too many questions he fairly yells "What?!" after the the second or third question. He is often rude.

Dr Benton knew my dad but hadn’t treated mom. Once he saw her cognitive impairment he quickly modified his plan to get any tests done while we were there so we wouldn’t have to return. He is very compassionate and understanding and easy to work with. By departure time, all our results were not in, but he phoned me to let me know everything was good! He made mom feel that they were old friends and she was comfortable and happy. Hopefully I never need those services, but I would recommend him to anyone!

As others have said, this cardiologist was Dismissive and Rude. He was more concerned about the fact that I refused to get on the scale at a visit (my personal choice to only use my own scale, once per week, when trying to lose weight!) than he was about treating me, examining me or working with me on my health. I went to him because of a mitral valve problem post chemotherapy. At first he was empathetic about that situation, but by visit three he said I was “wasting his time” and he had “plenty of other patients waiting” (who apparently would get on the scale¡). Yes, I am overweight, not grossly obese or anything, and am trying to lose weight, BUT NO ONE deserves to be shamed and berated by a doctor as I was by him. He left the room that day without examining me, threw the echocardiogram report on a chair without discussing it, and never looked back. I left stunned-and will not return for that kind of abuse.

I have seen Dr. Benton four times over the past two years. On each visit he has asked how I was and what issues I had. He listens, and his responses are very clear and straightforward. What impresses me most is how he (no pun intended) gets right to the heart of the matter, orders appropriate tests and proceeds from there. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Benton spent less than 6 minutes with me in 2 office visits. He tosses radiology report on a chair and sprints out the door. Told me he didn't need to see me for 3 years. After carefully reading this report, I saw there is a NEW condition that could lead to stroke! I WONDER IF BENTON EVEN BOTHERED TO READ THE RADIOLOGY REPORT? Stay away, self consumed, doesn't even spend 3 minutes with his patients. I will find a doctor who cares enough to read reports of other medical docs.
