This content was provided by Dr. Sloan "Dr. Rick Sloan grew up in a very small community in Colorado and graduated with 25 students. At an earl age, Dr. Sloan found his grandfather who had passed from an accident involving alcohol. At the age of 5 Dr. Sloan knew who he wanted to become. Dr. Sloan was the first graduate from Sangre de Cristo high school, to ever become a physician. Dr. Sloan spent 10 years in the US Navy, then went back to college and graduated from the University of Colorado Medical school in 2002. He then completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Saint Joseph's residency program in Phoenix. After residency Dr. Sloan started his career working on the reservation at Salt River and Gila River Indian health communities. Dr. Sloan was quickly made aware of the drug and alcohol problems there and immediately began working in the addiction field and has helped 1000's of patients get clean from alcohol, opiates, and other illicit and non-illicit drugs. Dr. Sloan opened his own practice in 2010 and his addiction family has grown tremendously. Dr. Sloan uses several different approaches to combat this problem. Dr. Sloan does outpatient detoxes for alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, and methamphetamines. He also provides continuity of care with medically assisted treatment using Vivitrol, naltrexone implantable pellets, and the various buprenorphine/naloxone products. There are counseling services available at his office. Dr. Sloan's clinic is the only one of its kind in Arizona, setting a precedence in the compassionate care that is needed in this field. Dr. Sloan has also successfully and safely detoxed several pregnant women from opiates, conquering the aftermath of NAS. Recently, he served on the Arizona Governor's Substance Abuse Task Force. "
