I had bilateral subdural hematomas (bleeding on both sides of the brain)that shifted my brain as a result of a fall and hitting the back of my head. Dr. Lytle scheduled emergency burr hole surgery to alleviate the pressure. He saved my life.

Dr. Lytle was the first person in a long succession of doctors to notice the signs of Cauda Equina Syndrome and order an immediate MRI and emergency surgery. Only because of him did I not lose all bowel and bladder function and am not totally paralyzed from the waist down.

My dad had a benign but aggressive brain tumor. Dr. Lytle's idea of a successful brain surgery and my idea of a successful brain surgery ended up being very different things. It was was a nightmare of an ordeal, and Dr. Lytle didn't seem to be concerned at all that my dad couldn't speak or walk after the surgery. He eventually could talk some but not well and was confined to a wheelchair and a skill care facility. He should have referred my dad for radiation treatment after the tumor removal but failed to do so.. We found that out a year later when the tumor grew back. My dad died soon after.

I saw Dr. Lytle a number of years ago, and I felt it was a terrible experience. I was having a lot of neck pain. I had never met him. He walked into the room, didn't introduce himself, and the first words out of his mouth were, "I've looked at your MRI, and we need to schedule you for a tri-fusion, where I'll fuse C4-7 together. No discussion, no nothing. My husband was with me and we saw him a second time after this, and both of us agreed that we needed to find another doctor. Maybe he has gotten better at talking with patients, at least I hope so. I got by with steroid injections in my neck for 12 years and finally had fusion done for C5-7, a year ago. I would never recommend someone like this to be your surgeon.

I fell in October of 2018 and dislocated my spine between T3 and T4. I was lucky to have Dr. Lytle perform surgery on me. The surgery was minimally invasive and I have had a complete recovery. His staff are exceptional and I find Dr. Lytle to be very knowledgeable, compassionate and willing to take time answering my questions. I could not ask for more and feel he saved my life.

My best friend Steve P was a patient of Dr. Lytle. He was operated on for an arachnoid cyst on the spine. He drove his self to the hospital and walked in on his own and little did he know it would be the last steps he ever took. He has been paralyzed every since the surgery. If that wasn't strange enough he has never spoke a word or even seen Dr. LYtLe since the surgery. He has been told by other Dr's as well as the folks at Care Partners that this was attributed to a surgical error.
