Dr. Jackson says...

Since 1984, I have practiced in a wide variety of clinical and administrative settings, in the Knoxville, Tennessee, and Hartford, Connecticut areas.  I relocated to the Johnson City area in 2007.  I worked in several area hospitals, before opening my current private practice.

Dr. Jackson says...

Depression and anxiety disorders are a common cause of illness, disability and death.  Any physician can prescribe antidepressant medication, often skillfully and successfully.  Unfortunately, many patients do not respond, or do not tolerate conventional treatments.

Ketamine is a 50 year old drug, originally approved and widely used as an anesthetic. During the past 17 years, extensive research has established that the drug is also uniquely effective, in very low doses, for treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. It is often effective when standard medications have failed.  Ketamine treatment is unavailable in many areas, but clinics are slowly opening around the country.

We hope to bring the availability of this highly effective treatment to East Tennessee, and surrounding areas.

Dr. Jackson says...

As a psychiatrist, I have always specialized in effective and safe treatment of treatment resistant conditions.   I have studied the developing scientific literature on the use of ketamine for depression and anxiety disorders for several years.  I have used it successfully in my outpatient practice.   I am now primarily offering ketamine therapy to patients who need a more effective, and rapidly effective, treatment for persistent depression and anxiety disorders.
