Takes time to explain procedure and keeps family updated about the surgical process. Takes time to answer questions. Would definitely recommend.

I am a physician whose father needed repair of an inguinal hernia, which was causing daily fecal incontinence. Due to prolonged period of time between onset of the structural abnormality and the patient's seeking surgical care (over 10 years), the operation was very complex with bowel incarcerated in the hernia sac, which had extended to and become confluent with the patient's scrotum. There was extensive fibrosis for Dr. Caplan to deal with, as well. Dr. Caplan greatly impressed me with his surgical technique, expertise, ability to improvise in the operating room, and overall level of experience in general surgery. He explained to me and the patient the risks, benefits, and alternatives of the operation beforehand and the details of the operation following his emergence from the operating room. I am so pleased with the results of my father's herniorrhaphy and with the care provided by Dr. Caplan and his associates at Houston Methodist Hospital. Thank you, Dr. Caplan!

I love, love, love Dr. Caplan. He has the best bedside manners, along with a sense of humor (or at least he understood mine). He performed numerous surgeries on me for a tumor and removal of adrenal gland, together with a double mastectomy (for cancer). He is knowledgeable and compassionate. He helped me find a team of doctors to help me every step of the way, and every doctor he had recommended had exceeded my expeditions as well. My advise to anyone facing any type of Surgery? See him!
