Dr. Renan Uflacker became very interested in the imaging part of medicine several years ago because it allows doctors to make a diagnosis almost without examining the patient and it provides you with extra information. The most intriguing thing for Dr. Uflacker was that a physician can use imaging as a guidance for procedures, which enables physicians to treat patients using imaging and small anthracites, for example a needle and a catheter. This enables the doctor to treat the patient without open surgery. Dr. Uflacker is particularly interested in vascular radiology because it allows him to treat patients with blockage of vessels, aneurysms, and active bleeding using minimally invasive techniques such as catheters. ** More recently, Dr. Uflacker has been interested in treating patients with carotid occlusive disease with carotid stenting, which is a very effective way to prevent strokes and reduce the complications of surgery. Dr. Uflacker is also interested in minimally invasive imaging to treat cancer as well. To learn more about Dr. Uflacker, please view the video below.
