Dr. Raymond Wurapa is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, wrist and upper extremity surgery. He has unique expertise in managing post- traumatic reconstructions (fractures, joint pain, tendon, nerve and soft tissue injuries), carpal tunnel and other neuropathies, arthritis, tendonitis and other upper extremity conditions. A graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Dr. Wurapa completed his residency at Albany Medical Center, New York, and his fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at The Philadelphia Hand Center, Thomas Jefferson University, in Philadelphia. Dr. Wurapa is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has the distinction of a Certificate of Added Qualification for Hand Surgery. He is also an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Association for Hand Surgery. He is credited with developing several surgical instruments including the Carpal Tunnel Retractor, and Small Joint Compressor/Distractor. Dr. Wurapa holds a patent for a wound irrigation basin and has contributed to research, leading medical and orthopedic publications and textbooks. He has led and attended numerous presentations, conferences and academic forums. His commitment to teaching fuels his work with resident physicians and patient education.
