HE SHOULD HAVE HIS MEDICAL LICENSE TAKEN AWAY. My rheumatologist suggested I see an Oncologist because my absolute neutrophil count (ANC) was 40,000. I went to see Dr. Pierce. I told him I felt horrible. He dismissed the fact that my ANC count was very, very high. I recently found the labs he ran and NEVER shared with me. My C-reactive protein Quant. was 14.5 , normal range is 0.0-4.9. My LDH was 239, normal range is 119-226. This was 2 years ago and I found out last night.
I am sorry about your experience, but these facts you state are clearly not how I practice medicine. I would never dismiss an ANC of 40,000. Your LDH is not significant, and the CRP is likely high due to your rheumatologic condition. If you wish to discuss this feel free to call our office and leave a name so I can actually review your records and I would be happy to address this.

"Dr." Pierce is only interested in "helping" if you have cancer. When my father had no diagnosis except for Epstein Barr Virus, Pierce simply kept doing biopsy after biopsy, looking (hoping) for cancer. It never materialized. Meanwhile, he watched my father slowly, painfully die, never once suggesting he pursue the EBV diagnosis. All the while, dragging him back for visit after visit, only to continually tell him how "complicated" he was and collect more $$$ for expensive tests. Cha-ching.
EBV is an infectious illness, not a cancer. There is no treatment but supportive care. It is associated with malignancy however, particularly lymphoproliferative disorders, which is what I do. I am sorry for your experience, but if you truly believe what you describe is how it actually happened, you are quite mistaken.
