This content was provided by Dr. Goli "Dr. Raja Goli's family moved to the United States the summer before Raja started the first grade. Raja's family lived in Ohio for a few years where Raja's father completed part of a General Surgery residency. Raja's family then lived in Canada for a few years where Raja's father completed a residency in Urology. Raja's family then moved to a small coal-mining town in southeastern Kentucky where Raja's father practiced Urology for many years and where Raja completed elementary school and high school. Raja earned his college Bachelor of Arts degree in Lexington, Kentucky at Transylvania University where Raja was on the Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement. Transylvania University was ranked #1 by U.S. News and World Report in the category of "Regional Liberal Arts Colleges in the South" the year that Raja graduated. Dr. Raja Goli earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in Louisville, Kentucky at the University of Louisville School of Medicine where he received Honors in Microscopic Anatomy. After medical school, Dr. Raja Goli completed two separate three-year residencies and a one-year pre-residency fellowship. Dr. Raja Goli completed his first three-year residency in Internal Medicine in Los Angeles, California at the University of Southern California medical center and was Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine for ten years. Dr. Raja Goli practiced general medicine and staffed hospital emergency rooms for several years where Dr. Goli gained broad medical experience. Dr. Raja Goli completed a one-year pre-residency fellowship in Ophthalmic Pathology in Washington, D.C. at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology where Raja published a scientific paper in the medical journal – Ophthalmic, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery. The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology was considered the top place in the world for the study of Ocular Pathology. Dr. Raja Goli completed his second three-year residency in Ophthalmology in Cincinnati, Ohio at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The eye surgery training in Cincinnati is considered among the best in the nation. Dr. Goli was trained in leading medical centers including; University of Cincinnati Hospital, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (one of the top children's hospitals in the United States), Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and the Cincinnati Eye Institute. Although Dr. Raja Goli practices Comprehensive Ophthalmology, he is really two doctors in one – an Internist as well as an Ophthalmologist. Dr. Goli's extensive medical background permits him to diagnose and treat patients with complex eye conditions. Dr. Goli has practiced medicine as far north as Ohio, as far south as Florida, as far east as Maryland, and as far west as California. Dr. Goli's primary clinical and surgical interests include, but are not necessarily limited to; Age Related Macular Degeneration, Cataracts, Diabetic Eye Disease, the Glaucomas, disorders of the Eyelids and Lacrimal System, Neuro-Ophthalmology, and LASIK. Dr. Goli performs eye surgery in state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery centers and performs eye injections and certain eye laser procedures in the office.
